- Advise the patient why this treatment is being administered and what to expect:
- It is a preventive coating in 2 stages and will take about 20 minutes.
- It will reduce their chances of tooth decay at the gum line.
- It may have a temporary sensation of a coating on the teeth, and may have a little and short tingling of the gums or tongue. It can also have a bitter taste which will last for a few minutes.
- Clean the biofilm from all tooth surfaces, using flour of pumice, and using unwaxed floss to floss between the teeth. It is particularly important to clean the distal surfaces of the last tooth in each arch as this can be a reservoir for bacteria.

- Isolate the first upper quadrant with cotton rolls and use a saliva ejector. Make sure all tooth surfaces are dry.
Figure 2: Isolating and drying the quadrant
- Apply Prevora Stage 1 to all tooth surfaces in this quadrant. Floss Prevora Stage 1 between the teeth. Then air dry.

- Apply Prevora Stage 2 to these same surfaces. Then air dry.
Figure 4: Applying Prevora Sealant Stage 2
- Proceed with steps 3 to 5 in the other 3 quadrants.
- Advise the patient to follow the after-treatment regimen:
- Not to eat hard, crusty foods for 3 hours to protect the bonding of the coating with the teeth. Consume soup at the next meal if possible.
- Not to brush for 24 hours and not to floss for 3 days.
- To avoid drinking carbonated soft drinks or sports drinks for as long as possible — these beverages can strip the coating off the teeth and promote the re-growth of the biofilm.
- To return for their next Prevora application as scheduled. Provide the Patient Leaflet to the patient.
- Dispose of the two Prevora vials used in this treatment and clean the operatory.
