Reimbursement
The procedure is accurately described by CDA Code #13601.
As a new dental treatment, many dental plans will not cover Prevora, at least until there are sufficient requests by members of the dental plan. Patients should be made aware that they may be paying out of pocket for this treatment.
For those dental plans which are based on a spending account, like the Royal Bank, patients may pay for their Prevora treatments from these accounts.
Willingness to Pay Directly
Consumer surveys of Canadian adults who attend the dentist show clearly that the patients will pay for this treatment out of pocket if they are at risk of the disease, or have experienced it. The majority of older respondents were willing to pay $400 in the first month of Prevora treatment.
The recommendations by the dentist and the dental hygienist are particularly important to the patient agreeing to treatment and to compliance throughout the initial and maintenance phases.
